Some great 1959 holiday pics from Andre Lemmer.
Andre answered our request for some '59 photos with lightening speed!
This might not have been 1959. Maybe1960 0r 61 (?). Donald Hurd organised a chauffeur and a kombi to take a group of us to camp at Kleinemonde. From left to right - if memory serves correctly - we have the late Eric Brann; Norman Wegerhoff; the late Winston (Rocky) Bartlett; John McDermott; Walter Townsend; Donald Hurd and Mike Newlands (he was a VP boy, I think). The holiday was memorable for two things: some successful fishing for me and Eric, I remember - and purported romances for the Cassanovas, Lotharios and self-styled debauchees in our midst who soon spotted some local talent.

1959: Technicolor version of Ben-Hur, starring Charlton Heston, and eventually wins 11 Academy Awards – a record held until 1998, when 1997's Titanic becomes the first film to equal the record.
